  4.    INTERNET SOCIETY INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES REDUCED

  9. The Internet Society Board of Trustees at its meeting 7-9 Feb 
  10. 1994, took several actions related to dues.  For individual
  11. members, the annual dues were reduced from US$ 70 to 35.  In
  12. taking the action, the Board believed that this amount would
  13. make membership more affordable to more people, and be commensurate
  14. with currently provided benefits, costs, and sources of income.
  15.  
  16. After the decision, Internet Society President Vint Cerf said 
  17. he felt that "I hope every potential Internaut in the world 
  18. will be able to take advantage of the new dues schedule."
  19.  
  20. For Internauts who have already paid their $70 membership dues 
  21. after 31 Dec 93, memberships will be extended to 24 months 
  22. automatically.

  24. For Internauts who paid $70 after 31 Jan 1993, some part of 
  25. their memberships overlap into 1994 and those parts will be 
  26. extended at the $35/year rate.  Dues paid at any date in a 
  27. month are treated as if received as of the first of that month.
